but back to the train ride.
we were scheduled to leave at 7:51, and we did. we were also to stop in florence, which we also did,
but there we picked up the last of the people that were to be in our cabin on the train.
here is a description of the people in our cabin:
mike and leanne:
that's us.
the two austrian girls:
they were very interesting. also very "bulky" they looked like they were
just big girls with muscles and hairy arms (one of them had really hairy arms) and just talked in deutsch
and laughed alot. one of them kept blowing her nose(correction for leanne: honking her nose) the entire train ride.
the smelly old guy:
when we say smelly, we don't mean old man smelly, which isn't to bad to deal with, but smelly as in like body odor
as if you have just run the boston marathon twice and not showered for a week.
the rude third austrian girl:
this girl was the kicker. she comes into the compartment when we stop in florence, 2 hours after we have started our
trip, and about and hour after we have all layed down on our bunks. the two austrian girls had the top bunks, leanne was
on one of the middle one, and mike and the smelly guy were on the two lower bunks. anyways. when she comes in mike is half asleep
but she says to him "81" mike in a half asleep, half awake state says to her "yes this is the cabin for 81 to 86." she more forcefully
say to him "no that is 81" gesturing to the bunk that he has already put all his sheets on and has already been asleep for an hour on
and makes him move. them she procedes to throw her bags all over eveyones stuff, smashing the bread and crossiants that we packed
for breakfast. then after she has been exceedingly rude she takes over the compartment. every one is reading and she turns off the lights
then slams the door closed and then begins to read "the trilogy of death."
so as you can tell it was a fun train ride.
when we got to vienna we went to the hostel we were staying at, which is very youth oriented, and then went to our room, dropped stuff of
and went out for the day. we went to stephansdom (st. stephens cathedral) which is vienna's most sacred landmark and in the heart of vienna.
from there we just walked around for the rest of the day and hung out at the hostel for the night.
