because we couldn't get a hotel in Florence, and the tickets were already boughten, we decided to just go to Bologna for the day. Just walk around see some cool things, and then come home.

it turned out to be a good day. we saw some good renissance art, and some cool buildings. climbed a tower, saw the basin where Pilate supposedly washed his hands after sentancing Jesus to be crucified, and went to a church that was supposed to be bigger than St. Peters, but the pope diverted funds elsewhere, and so even to this day, it is unfinished. most of the inside is finished, but you can see the upper half of the outside is very bare.

then while walking back to the train station, and attempting to find a reasonablly priced place to eat, we ended up walking by a huge march of student communist. there were police and what not lining the streets, so we went up a few streets and found a very nautical restaurant.

we had a very god dinner, and then got to the train station. we almost got on the wrong train, but got off just in time.

all in all it was a good and long day.
